The Many Faces of Simone de Beauvoir: Author, Philosopher, Feminist (Panel Discussion)

National Museum of Women in the Arts presents a panel discussion in conjunction with the installation, From the desk of Simone de Beauvoir.Join Dr. Susan Suleiman (Harvard University), Constance Borde and Sheila Malovany-Chevallier (translators of The Second Sex), and Dr. Debra Bergoffen (American University, Professor Emerita George Mason University) in a conversation moderated by Dr. Gail Weiss (George Washington University) for an exploration into the life, work,
and impact of Simone de Beauvoir. Special attention will be paid to Beauvoir’s novel The Mandarins, landmark treatise The Second Sex, and her contribution to Western philosophy.
